“My 2005 Nissan Titan's rear wheel seals are leaking and have had to have the seal, bearing and spacer replaced twice. They begin leaking and run down on the rear brakes and cause them to slip. There must be a defect in design here. I know of many other Titan owners are having the same problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10280776, filed 2009-08, 60,000 miles

“Got in my truck to go to work today and while turning right out of my driveway the engine revved up and I was going no where. I let off the gas and as the motor RPM came down there was a loud bang and the vehicle jumped forward. Continued down the road about 200ft and turned around. Parked the truck. Checked the fluid. Metal shavings and chunks inside with plenty of fluid. Also noticed a leaking rear wheel seal on the drivers side. This truck only has 78000 miles on it. Absolutely unacceptable Nissan.”

NHTSA complaint #10469132, filed 2012-08, 78,000 miles

“Back in may of 2011 I was driving my Nissan Titan truck down the highway with my two girls 6 & 7 year old when I heard the truck making a noise out of the rear .I slow down and immediately pulled over to the side of road not knowing what had happened. I drove the vehicle back to my home and called the dealership. When I took my 2005 Nissan Titan to the dealership in vineland new jersey they stated that the problem with my truck was the rear and needed to be replaced. They stated that the repair cost for the whole rear was $3,800 in order for it to be repaired. …”

NHTSA complaint #10626786, filed 2014-08, 38,836 miles

“I have a 2005 Nissan Titan with only 44000 miles on it. During recent driving it sounded as if the right rear was grinding to pieces. It continually got worse so I looked under the truck to see if there was something that was caught and dragging. It was so loud that people would stare at the truck when it passed by. After it was taken to the garage they discovered that the insides of the right rear axle were almost completely torn apart. It was very fortunate that it did not cause a serious problem while driving. They also found that the left axle was leaking and would likely also break down. …”

NHTSA complaint #10426505, filed 2011-09, 44,000 miles

“Oil leaking on left rear wheel cause by a bad seal. Truck have been repaired twice by a local licensed shop, . The problem persist. It may be cause by a bad differential. Let me know if is any recalls from factory. Or any on going investigation.”
