“I also have a rear windshield wiper that works on and off. When I took the van to the dealer, he said I need a new motor, but then it began to work again. This summer it went out again, I don't think it is the motor, since it works some times and some times it doesn't. I hope you get this report clearly. I wasn't going to inquire about the transmission, but as a comsumer I hate to put money into a van, when no one can id the problem.”

NHTSA complaint #712446, filed 1999-09

“My windshield wipers have stopped working. I first noticed a problem last winter early 1999 when the wipers began stopping in an up position instead of at the bottom of the window. They still worked until a couple of months ago when they stopped. The motor still works but the wipers don't move. I looked at the assembly and saw the pivot arm has disconnected from the shaft of the motor. I called your office and found there is a recall. You gave me chrysler # and I called them, but they have not recalled this problem yet. Why would this be delayed? …”

In addition, the ABS pump is running and will not shut off. The ABS lights and brake lights are currently illuminated. The rear wiper on the rear hatch has been replaced four times at the cost of $350. The wiper currently needs to be replaced again. Within six months of having the vehicle repaired, the failure recurred. …”

“The contact owns a 1993 Plymouth Grand Voyager. The contact stated that the liftgate hinge was not operating correctly. The liftgate closed without assistance. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and repaired. Also, the ABS warning light illuminated intermittently on the instrument panel. The contact applied pressure to the brake pedal and experienced difficulty slowing down. There was also a malfunction with the seat belt assembly buckle. Recently, while driving approximately 65 MPH in the rain, the windshield wipers stopped working without warning. …”
