NHTSA complaint #10011099, filed 2003-03, 165,000 miles

“When we went to lift the tail gate to remove my daughter's friend's bike, we encountered resistance. We discovered that the upper bolt that attaches the strut to the lift gate had broken in two. When we attempted to get a replacement part, we started to hear stories about this failure. The dealership's service department was closed (saturday) and we left for a camping trip on monday, returning today. When I called the dealership, they acknowledged a recall on another years model, but were unhelpful with my problem. …”

In addition, the ABS pump is running and will not shut off. The ABS lights and brake lights are currently illuminated. The rear wiper on the rear hatch has been replaced four times at the cost of $350. The wiper currently needs to be replaced again. Within six months of having the vehicle repaired, the failure recurred. …”

NHTSA complaint #10237365, filed 2008-08, 100,000 miles

“The passenger door has flung open, while driving, twice. I consider this a safety problem, while driving. The manufacturer says that it is not a recalled item, so they will not address it. They also will not give me a supervisor to talk to about the matter. No matter how many miles a vehicle has on it, as long as it is maintained well, keep in good condition, and has not been in a wreck, I would think this should be addressed by the manufacturer. It is dangerous. I quote a recall of the jeep cherokee, 1993 action number pe95047 there was a failure of the door assembly welds. …”

NHTSA complaint #723079, filed 2000-05

“I was driving on a surface street at 20mph when all of a sudden it felt like something slammed into my van. Inside if felt like an earthquake with the car jolting from back to front. The whole interior was making terrible noisesi I thought the whole car was falling apart. I got out to look there was nothing on the exterior. I tried to lift the hatchback and could not. When I was able to get it open, the hydraulic cylinder on the rt had snapped off from the car frame. When it happened, my steering wheel jolted from my hands and I was pulled to the lane to the left. …”
