“On october 31,2008 I was in an automobile accident where I was going approximately 30 MPH when I hit someone straight on from behind. My airbag did not deploy, nor did my seat belt lock up. I was taken to the hospital where I was told I had a minor concussion, and neck and shoulder sprain. My head hit the steering wheel twice.”

NHTSA complaint #10247945, filed 2008-11, 9,900 miles

“I was just informed that my 2007 G6 requires a second new steering rack at 49900 miles. The first one was replace at 33000 miles. Now the warranty has expired and I have to pay $900 out of my pocket. The dealership makes no excuses for GM parts that only last 2 years and 17k miles. I have also had the same complaints as everyone else: who owns this car: brake squeaking and short life (rear brakes have been completely replaced twice), intermediate steering shaft, steering column problems, etc. I don't understand how GM can ignore all of these complaints, especially the ones regarding safety!”

NHTSA complaint #10402187, filed 2011-05, 49,900 miles

“At around 51,000 miles my Pontiac G6 (2007) began veering to the left and locking up. I heard a clunking noise several days before this happened when I turned the wheel from left to right. The clunk started off somewhat quiet and then got louder and cause it to become difficult to turn. When I would brake the car would shake and the steering wheel would turn left and right rapidly on it's own. I had all my brake pads replaced, even though the mechanic said there was nothing wrong with the brakes. I had the steering rack replaced. The problem went away for 3 months and then returned. …”

NHTSA complaint #10306769, filed 2010-02, 51,000 miles

“Air bag sensor does not turn off airbag when a small child sits in the front seat. There is a 359 unit recall on this make/model for this defect but dealer states it doesn't cover my car and that airbag should turn on when passenger weight exceeds 30-40 pounds. Nhtsa campaign id: 07v146000.”

NHTSA complaint #10221806, filed 2008-03, 500 miles

“The power steering went out on my 2007 Pontiac G6. The vehicle was traveling at low speeds. It went out repeatedly. The power steering went out when turning the wheel more than approximately 15 degrees. The steering wheel tightened before going out and was followed by a vehicle alert that the power steering was lost. Power steering was recovered when turning off the car and turning it back on. However, steering continued to go out. It has since been intermittent and does not go out once exceeding approx 15-20 miles per hour.”
