“My problems started with the catalytic converter which failed and the dealer told me it was not covered under warranty which I later found out it was up to 100,000 miles. Next my airbag service light keeps coming on and now my traction control comes on and my engine powers down and I slow down at a rapid rate. Yesterday I was going down the interstate at 65 MPH and the traction control light came on and the car completely lost all power almost causing me to crash and get hit by a tractor trailer and now it will not start.”

NHTSA complaint #10427119, filed 2011-09, 98,672 miles

“2008 Pontiac G6 2.2l 4-cyl. Catalytic converter failure. I purchased the car in july-2008 specifically because I took a new job that would require a lengthy commute until the wife and I could relocate closer to my job. I have driven approximately 176 miles round trip daily between july-2008 and july-2010. At 90k miles, the check engine lamp came on. The local GM dealership informed that the catalytic converter had failed. They converter was replaced by the dealer on 7/29/2010 at a cost of $787 - including labor. …”

NHTSA complaint #10346316, filed 2010-07, 91,000 miles

“My power steering went out while driving down the interstate entering an exit ramp at 50 MPH. This is the first and only time this has happened. I've now parked my vehicle and haven't been driving it. I have two children under age 4 and cannot allow them to be in that death trap. After I pulled over to a safe area, I turned the ignition off and about 10 min later on again. After that, my steering was fine. I've also had the rack and pinion replaced 3 times for a click sound that is made anytime I turn to the left or right. …”

NHTSA complaint #10230021, filed 2008-06, 64,216 miles

“Intermittent stalling of the car while driving. At first the stalling took place once every few weeks and only as the speed was decreasing. The car was taken to the dealership, who said there was nothing wrong with the car. The dealership stated there was no codes in the computer to explain the stalling and was unable to replicate it. Over the last 9 months the stalling has increased. The car stalls every few days, and at times stalls while accelerating. After the car stalls, it immediately starts right back up.”

NHTSA complaint #10355844, filed 2010-09, 40,000 miles

“The contact owns a 2008 Pontiac G6. The contact stated that the vehicle would lose power intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 142,000.”
