“The electric power steering system failed while driving the car on the highway at 65 miles per hour. After checking, I found that there is a recall concerning problem. Recall date 3/31/14 with the 2005-2009 Pontiac G6. I contacted the GM representative at the 1800 number and was told that this recall doesn't pertain to the particular 09 G6 that I have purchased.”
NHTSA complaint #11389070, filed 2021-01, 140,000 miles“Ok first my stereo was working fine then all of a sudden only the tweeters are working now and then jus last night the power steering messed up the light on my dash came on an can't barely steer it I'm not as worried about the stereo as I am the power steering so I was wondering is there a recall for that because that's dangerous and should of never happen could cause an accident”
NHTSA complaint #11396771, filed 2021-02, 178,865 miles“Every time I'm turning slightly right my power steering goes off. It has done this on the highway and side streets. If I turn off car and turn it back on it resets and works again. I had the computer reset and after one day it failed again. I'm not sure if it's just the torque sensor, computer or steering column.”
NHTSA complaint #11403421, filed 2021-03, 118,300 miles“Got pulled over for brake lights not acting when engaged, and viceversa. Officer noticed I was driving fine, but my lights were not. Issues with steering, jerky motions at low speed can't disengage parking or parking brake without braking engaged shift stick when changing to drive constant steering and tire sensor service sensor”
NHTSA complaint #11375188, filed 2020-11, 171,000 miles“My 2009 Pontiac G6 2.4l displayed power steering. It became manual steering. I turned the car off & restarted it. The power steering worked again. I was in a parking lot. I checked my cars invoices & the VIN # check which said I had the work done. I also was driving in my driveway & the wheel would start to turn then lock up & snap back hurting my wrist. I was able to park it.”
