“I have a gas odor coming from my car and was informed by my mechanic that there is a gas leak coming from the top of the gas tank . I could see when it was on the lift signs of leakage to the botom of the tank. When trying to start the car in the morning it cranks slightly longer but if I just turn the key on and wait a few seconds it seems to build up fuel pressure and cranks right up.”
NHTSA complaint #10824696, filed 2016-02, 88,538 miles“Catalytic converter needed replacing with less than 125, 000 miles on engine. Could not afford to replace so could not get state inspection to pass. Has been sitting and not driven since march 2019. Between dec 2018 and march 2019, both front and rear brakes failed. Car driver's door and convertible top stopped working. Needs approx. $3000 to fix which I don't have but still paying $261./ monthly payments and cannot drive. Finance company says they will not let me do voluntary repo. I am retired on fixed income. Any advice would be appreciated. …”
NHTSA complaint #11316624, filed 2020-03, 125,000 miles“After parking my car I smell a very strong gas smell for several hours so I can not park my car in my attached garage because it makes my whole house smell like gas. It started in our over 100 degree summer weather and seems to be getting worse every day. It also starts hard after it has sat for some hours. I am afraid it could start a fire. I do not feel safe driving my car!!! I see the 2009 g5 has a recall for what sounds like the same issue. A problem with the fuel pump module (a crack) but I do not see one for the G6. …”
