“On 12/23/2017 while traveling down a state route at 55 MPH I tried to roll the drivers side window down, window detached from the clips and fell all the way down causing me to to take my focus, and eyes off the road and swerve towards the center line. Vehicle was taken to the local dodge dealer to have the window put back in the clips. On 12/30/2017 the vehicle did the same exact thing. Again took back to the dealer and had to have window put back in the clips.”
NHTSA complaint #11060672, filed 2018-01, 18,000 miles“Attempted to roll down driver's side window in my 2016 Ram 1500 crew cab sport. The window didn't move but made a sound like it was frozen. I left the heat on high while driven in an attempt to defrost the window. % minutes later the window suddenly dropped half way down into the door and would not go completely back up. I almost wrecked the truck as it scared me and was very loud. I had to bring the truck back to the dealer to have reattach the window to the cheap plastic clips that it seperated from. …”
NHTSA complaint #11169966, filed 2019-01, 47,000 miles“While having a routine oil change I discovered on the vehicle several small areas of chipped paint and rust immediately above the windshield. The windshield is the original and never changed so there is no reason for the paint defects along the windshield seam area so that when the rust goes through the windshield will become unstable and pose a potential hazard or could fail altogether. I spoke with a Ram dealer who was uninterested in the problem. I have called Ram cooperate headquarters and reported the issue. Please see attached photos.”
NHTSA complaint #11407938, filed 2021-04, 31,785 miles“When rolling down side windows during cold weather, window come off/out of track. The window may stay in place until hours later. At some point, it will fall down until it hits something or will fall into the bottom of the door. This can happen while driving, or parked. The first time, the window went off track while driving on the highway. The window stayed up for an additional 10 minutes then fell into the door while the vehicle was in motion. The 2-3 occurances, the vehicle was in drive, but stopped when it came off track. …”
NHTSA complaint #11174750, filed 2019-02, 29,800 miles“The contact owns a 2016 Ram 1500. The contact later discovered that the glass sunroof had shattered and there were shards of glass falling from the roof of the vehicle. There were no injuries reported. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 107,000.”
