Example complaints

Other or unknown: “Debris on the interstate (likely a rock from a dump truck a few vehicles ahead) hit the lower right corner of the windshield on the passenger side. The impact immediately caused a large chip and bullseye shaped crack almost six inches in diameter. The impact was loud enough to make my ears ring. I have not experienced this kind of sound or damage in other brand vehicles. The windshield needed to be replaced and paid for out of pocket. It was not covered by warranty or insurance.”

NHTSA complaint #11555771, filed 2023-11

Visibility (wipers, defrost, mirrors): “Overall I’m disappointed in the quality of the manufactured parts and accessories. It leads me to believe low grade materials were used in manufacturing this vehicle. My vehicle is brand new and has 2500 miles on it and the front windshield has a crack that is obvious to the naked eye that it was not caused by a rock hitting it while driving. If low grade quality (thin glass) was used to produce this vehicle and it easily breaks/cracks this is a safety hazard for drivers and passengers.”

NHTSA complaint #11517966, filed 2023-04

Electrical system: “The battery and electrical system died while I was at a red light in traffic on my way to work. I was stuck on a major road with trucks and traffic behind me while I was stuck in the middle lane. I had to wait for help to be pushed out of traffic to the sidewalk and wait for a jump. The Subaru dealership confirmed this was an issue with their battery and auto stop/start system and charged me $600 to replace the battery. When it died, every light on my dashboard lit up but there was no prior warning. …”

NHTSA complaint #11758851, filed 2026-08

Engine: “Oct 7 2025 when me and my 6 year old daughter. Was leaving after picking her up at mom i drove off then came to stop sign so i slowly hit breaks and car accelerated very dangerous im very concerned”
