“Tesla Model X all doors are 100% automatic which means that they cannot be manually opened from the outside if the car software is not working. I have been facing a lot of issues with the Falcon doors and to my surprise a lot of other Tesla X users on Reddit face the same issue. So, when you press the open button on your app to open the rear falcon doors it might not open at all and just make a beep sound. It's hard to replicate this issue but I shot a video showing how it happens. This is not the first time that it had happened with my car. I have had this happen multiple times to my car. …”

NHTSA complaint #11572610, filed 2024-02

“The front drivers side door doesn't latch close. It can come open on the highway, posing a serious safety concern. Tesla said since they couldn't replicate the issue at the time of the service appointment, and thus they were just going to ignore it. This was stated to me on October 31, 2023.”

NHTSA complaint #11556893, filed 2023-11

“The passenger side back door does not open consistently leading to loss of egress. Although the other doors do function regularly, removing a child from a car seat is nearly impossible when accessing from another door. The door also struggles to close consistently, and has closed on my son in the past. The inconsistency of a functioning falcon wing door is a safety risk and it continues to worsen despite many attempts to repair the sensors. The Tesla service center has attempted to repair the door and sensors 4 times without success. …”
