“While parking the car, the bolts on the front lower control arm/tension link—part of the front suspension assembly—came off entirely. Our family, including our two children, were in the car, and the situation was terrifying. If this failure had occurred while we were driving, it could have resulted in a major, life-threatening accident.”
NHTSA complaint #11699503, filed 2025-11“Took my car into tesla service center for alignment and they said that i need to change my front lateral link. I asked if it was damaged by anything i did and they said no. At 31k miles this is not normal. They won't cover it under warranty. It's a critical component and can cause a major accident resulting in injury or death.”
NHTSA complaint #11647858, filed 2025-03“While driving, I heard a loud clicking noise from the front driver side wheel, followed by resistance and dragging of something under the vehicle. I did my best to pull over safely, but I could no longer steer the car. The control arm complete broke off of the wheel, and was now almost resting on the street while the tire/wheel was lodged into the wheel well bent sideways.”
NHTSA complaint #11692225, filed 2025-10“Clicking/thumping on sharper turns a day before the issue. Then today, there was a loud clunk while driving. When I was reversing into my driveway, there was scraping noises and resistance. Upon exiting the vehicle, I saw the passenger side front control arm loose. It is now inoperable.”
NHTSA complaint #11737898, filed 2026-05“Front Control Arms were replaced in January of 2025. I replaced all 4 tires and during the alignment on February 18, 2026 the technician reported to me that the front control arms were beginning to crack. He told me it is a known issue on Tesla model 3 and model Y. I have set up a service appt to address the issue again. Of note, Tesla service centers refer to control arms as links which is very deceptive on the service receipt.”
