Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“I had a wreck in jan., 7th, 2005. I was traveling below the speed limit and the lady in front of me was dead stopped and I cold not stop my car. I hit her stopped car, doing 45 MPH and my airbags did not deploy! Now the airbag on the passenger side, is not right. It has moved and separated as if it is about to pop open, since the wreck and the people that did the service on my car to fix the front end (via my insurance co. - usaa) have had it looked at and they will not do anything about it. The cover has moved even more, since my wreck in jan. 7th, 2015 and I am really scared. …”

NHTSA complaint #10721251, filed 2015-05, 155,000 miles

“Attempted to replace left front parking light bulb. Socket was very difficult to remove and nearly impossible to install. Location adjacent to very sharp sheet metal caused several cuts. My wife's hands are smaller, so she was able to reinstall the socket, but not without also being cut.”

NHTSA complaint #10154585, filed 2006-04, 23,500 miles

“1992 Toyota Camry would not go into gear. The consumer stated he had to push the shift lock override button to get the gears to work. While driving on a 4 lane road, with the cruise control activated, the consumer came upon a red light with cars stopped. He touched the brakes to deactivate the cruise, but instead the engine revved up. The harder he pushed the brakes the faster the engine ran. He finally pushed the cruise button on the stalk and the vehicle was under control. The dealer found the brake light switch had an open circuit.”

NHTSA complaint #10316510, filed 2010-03, 99,000 miles

“Two complaints (1) headlights are delaminating which I understand is a common, expensive problem. (2) inside driver's side door handle broke so I couldn't get out of the car. Both of these problems, I have learned are quite common to other Camry owners.”

NHTSA complaint #10234738, filed 2008-07

“The contact owns a 2002 Toyota Camry. While parked, the contact inserted the key in the ignition and noticed that it could not be turned. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The mechanic advised the contact that the brake light switch would have to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 8,603. Updated 12/19/12 updated 01/09/13”
