“I was coming out of my mechanic driveway and I let cars go by down a busy street> my foot was clearly on the brake and suddenly I heard a wining noise and my the accelerated on it's own and went across the road and hit a car in the middle of the street. I said to myself this car is causing me to have an accident. I had my mechanic check the brakes ABS and transmission no problem with that.”

NHTSA complaint #11205684, filed 2019-05, 76,000 miles

“The exhaust manifold on my 2002 Toyota Camry with 2.4l cracked. It seems to be a common problem on these cars. My Camry only had a little over 60,000 miles when it happened. Other Toyota cars have been recalled for the same problems. Brake need long distance.”

NHTSA complaint #10854622, filed 2016-04, 168,000 miles

“2002 Toyota Camry. The ABS has always let go when I brake on a road with a series of rough pot hole type pavement. Also when braking on rail road tracks. It catches again when I am over the rough spots. I had the brakes checked by a certified tech and they tell me nothing is wrong. Seems very similar to the prius problems to me.”

NHTSA complaint #10310572, filed 2010-02, 35,000 miles

“I was backing out of a parking space. When I put car in drive and started turning wheel to the right, car wouldn't turn and braking did not stop car. It seemed as if accelerator was stuck. Car finally stopped when it hit parked car. Something similar happened about a year ago.”

NHTSA complaint #10496230, filed 2013-02, 42,500 miles

“This is an ongoing problem. Whenever I hit a pothole or a bump and I hit my brakes to slow down, the car makes this really loud grinding sound and the car does not stop at all and keeps accelerating. The only way I can get the brakes to engaged is by taking my foot off the brake completely and stepping on it again.”
