“I returned home in the late afternoon to find my rear windshield completely shattered and with a basketball sized hole. Glass was all over the driveway. There was no glass nor object of destruction in the trunk. The truck was locked and there wasn't any other damage. The windshield appeared to be bowed outward a bit. It was a warm day but cooler compared to temps the past few weeks.”
NHTSA complaint #10904275, filed 2016-09, 120,000 miles“The passenger side sun visor dropped from the up or stored position to the down position while making a turn, partially and unexpectedly obstructing the driver's view. The visor now will not stay in the stored position.the driver's side visor is beginning to show signs of the same failure.”
NHTSA complaint #10659509, filed 2014-11, 125,600 miles“Driver side sun visor dropped into field of vision. Dealer says this happens a lot with Highlander models. Visor will not stay up or down but rests in between, which defeats its intended use and interferes with driver vision. Dealer refused to repair as defect.”
NHTSA complaint #10491537, filed 2013-01, 62,000 miles“The driver side sun visor has started to droop down, unable to be put in full upward position. This has been getting increasingly worse over the past few months. A website I visited for help suggested reporting it to NHTSA. It is a safety hazard because it hangs down at forehead level when driving and causes a serious distraction. The website contained numerous complaints of other Highlander owners for the same problem and indicated that replacing it for several hundred dollars does not prevent a frequent recurrence of the problem. …”
NHTSA complaint #10510619, filed 2013-05, 60,000 miles“The driver's side sun visor drops and remains down at all times preventing driver full visability. The mechanism to keep the sun visor propped against car ceiling has failed.”
