“My Toyota Landcruiser First Edition was locked and parked directly in front of my residence, right in front of my bedroom window. Thief broke the rear window, climbed in, and took 25 minutes to start the car before driving off without the factory alarm ever sounding. I reasonably believed a premium vehicle with a factory alarm would detect glass breakage or intrusion, but it does not. This appears to be a design vulnerability affecting theft risk.”

NHTSA complaint #11700479, filed 2025-11

“The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser. The contact stated that while on an incline, after shifting the gear shifter to the drive, the vehicle had rolled backwards. Additionally, while driving approximately 35 MPH, the parking assist warning light illuminated, and the parking overview camera activated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. There was no fault found with the vehicle. The contact stated that the same failure had occurred with a 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser. …”
