“Was told the electric pump housed within the transmission failed and is not sold separately so I need a whole new transmission. No ETA on when that may actually happen. When I shifted from Park into Reverse, Neutral and Drive and then back into Park I get a horrible screeching sound and was told that the truck is not safe to drive.”
NHTSA complaint #11696389, filed 2025-10“My brand new Land Cruiser has random extremely hard downshifts when coming to a stop. It is so jolting that it lunges the car forward and could potentially cause me to rear end someone. It doesn’t happen every time I come to a stop but it does seem that coming to a quick stop such as emergency braking or braking after faster driving makes it more likely to happen. There are no warning lights on the dash and I haven’t had it checked out by Toyota because I am quite positive they will tell me nothing is wrong because they probably won’t be able to replicate it on their quick test drive. …”
NHTSA complaint #11624483, filed 2024-11“The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser. The contact stated that while driving 15 to 20 MPH and slowing down, the vehicle experienced hard downshifts. The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving from a complete stop. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an unknown local dealer, but was not diagnosed because the technician specialist was not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,000.”
NHTSA complaint #11623649, filed 2024-11, 1,000 miles“The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser. The contact stated that while on an incline, after shifting the gear shifter to the drive, the vehicle had rolled backwards. Additionally, while driving approximately 35 MPH, the parking assist warning light illuminated, and the parking overview camera activated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. There was no fault found with the vehicle. The contact stated that the same failure had occurred with a 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser. …”
NHTSA complaint #11649278, filed 2025-03, 4,000 miles“2024 Land Cruiser, purchased in July, 2024 has had 4 random hard downshifts when coming to a stop and then lunges forward as when a driver downshifts harshly in a manual car (keeping in mind that the land cruiser is an automatic and the driver is not intentionally down shifting). On the 4th occurance, I nearly rear ended a car. Fist occurance at approximately 250 miles and last occurance at approximately 1,200 miles. …”
