“2024 Land Cruiser, purchased in July, 2024 has had 4 random hard downshifts when coming to a stop and then lunges forward as when a driver downshifts harshly in a manual car (keeping in mind that the land cruiser is an automatic and the driver is not intentionally down shifting). On the 4th occurance, I nearly rear ended a car. Fist occurance at approximately 250 miles and last occurance at approximately 1,200 miles. …”

NHTSA complaint #11626065, filed 2024-11

“Hitch-mounted bike rack triggers false PKSB (Parking Support Brake) auto-braking when reversing. All four tires skid, bikes experience tremendous torque on the rack, and cargo inside the vehicle shifts heavily. No actual obstacle present. Tow/haul mode does not reliably prevent it. This is a safety defect. Uncommanded braking can cause rear-end collisions. Owner is located in the United States. Multiple Land Cruiser forum owners report the same issue with hitch-mounted bike racks and false auto-braking.”

NHTSA complaint #11767320, filed 2026-09

“The automatic emergency braking is activated when no objects are in front of the car potentially resulting in being rear ended. The feature is so oversensitive that it is safer to deactivate it. Car taken to a local dealership and the concern was replicated with a dealership technician. The dealership refused to evaluate the safety concern any further as the car is being inspected by a Toyota regional technician. Additionally, the brakes squeak when in reverse but the concern has not been addressed by multiple dealerships or Toyota headquarters.”
