“To: national highway traffic safety administration,I bought a brand new 2000 Toyota Tacoma prerunner a couple of weeks ago and I noticed that there is something wrong with my driver side mirror. I talked to the service department in the dealership and they changed the mirror for me. The problem is still there. It is hard to focus on what is on the mirror and it bothers my eyes. On the first day I had a red eye and a little bit of pain. After that I couldn't use my mirror. The mirror is closed since I bought the car. …”
NHTSA complaint #719953, filed 2000-03“While driving my new truck on the 5 fwy sun. 10/29/00 app. 4:30 pm. With my sun roof in the open position, without warning, the sun roof blew of the top with considerable pressure. Shattering on the front hood & windshield of the vehicle behind me. This took chips out of the paint & windshield of the vehicle of the 2nd party. Upon presenting this to the Toyota dealership whom I purchased from, thier reply was disbelief & that they would not honor the warranty. This is one issue. More serious (which is scary) is this could have been a fatal accident & Toyota is denying this accident occured. …”
