“System will occasionally suddenly decelerate as I am passing, usually a large truck. I will be in adaptive cruise control and as I get abreast of the trailer, the vehicle will suddenly decrease speed by 10-20 MPH, then accelerate back to the set speed. This, obviously, has the potential to create a rear end collision if someone is following and not paying full attention, esp if there are multiple cars following. This has happened multiple times.”

NHTSA complaint #11402933, filed 2021-03, 18,000 miles

“This morning I activated my cruise control (cc)as I normally would at 55 MPH. Immediately my truck began accelerating until I finally disengaged cc when the speed reached 83-85 MPH. It was still accelerating at the time I disengaged it. I attempted to recreate the incident with no luck. Before the incident, I was driving in a city environment at speeds less than 55 MPH, so there was no way I had previously set the cc to a high speed that would have caused this to happen had I hit resume.”

NHTSA complaint #11404107, filed 2021-03, 10,500 miles

“When I start vehicle a hissing or electric shock rattles and seems as I start to drive there is no power and 4 wd is on when I brake it skips making tires jump.”

NHTSA complaint #11389547, filed 2021-01, 4,312 miles

“On Sunday, March 15,2026, I was driving from Houston, TX to Pharr, TX at the speed of 75mph on the left lane to pass an 18 wheeler, with another 18 wheeler behind me, and my truck started idling erratically. I lost speed and my service engine light came on. My truck slowed down and I almost got in a car accident with the 18 wheelers because the truck did this. The truck behind me slowed down on time and it went immediately to the right lane to avoid hitting my truck. I feared for my life. All the vehicles behind me and the 18 wheelers also went to the right lane to avoid me. …”

NHTSA complaint #11725081, filed 2026-03

“The contact owns a 2020 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated while driving approximately 80 MPH, the brakes activated independent of the driver input and the vehicle slowed to 60 MPH abruptly. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be inspected. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.”
