“I was pulling into my driveway with the intention of parking in the garage. I was slowly with my foot on the brake, turning into the driveway when the vehicle simultaneously started to squeal (as I was on the brake) and accelerate. I kept pushing harder and harder on the brake, the squealing continued. I was able to put the truck in park and shut the ignition off prior to crashing into anything.”

NHTSA complaint #10936067, filed 2016-12, 187,671 miles

“I do not see the recall for the spiral cable assembly on my Tacoma. I read that this VIN is part of a recall for the wiring in the steering wheel that controls my passenger airbag, cruise control and some other functions. It has malfunctioned. Why is it not listed on your website? When I checked on the status of this recall, it shows that my model, according to the VIN does qualify for this. My passenger airbag is not working, and my cruise control is no longer working at speed.”

NHTSA complaint #11119717, filed 2018-08, 80,000 miles

“Stuck accelerator pedal in 2006 Toyota Tacoma. No floor mats installed. Truck reached 110mph before I was able to get truck under control. No crash. Had reported to Toyota several times that I was having problems from the start. They said there were no problems or they could not re-create them. I have stopped driving the truck.”

NHTSA complaint #10311486, filed 2010-02, 43,000 miles

“While driving my 2006 Tacoma double cab 4x4 automatic with 4x4 engaged and travelling 10 MPH the truck suddenly lunged forward as the accelerator stuck causing the vehicle to crash into a building. I have no floormats and did not have my foot on the gas pedal. Dealer checked and said no problem could be found.”

NHTSA complaint #10402086, filed 2011-05, 92,000 miles

“As I was rolling down hill and applying the brakes, the truck suddenly accelerated. As I pressed the brakes harder the anti-lock brakes activated and the truck continued to move forward for a short distance, almost into on coming traffic, while the engine could be heard loud as if the gas peddle was being pushed although the brakes were being applied only. Scary! Uncontrollable forward movement and acceleration while braking.”

NHTSA complaint #10502270, filed 2013-03, 89,000 miles
