“I brought car in for routine oil change. Mechanic called me in to show me the extreme rust under the frame. It is flaking off in chunks and almost rusted through in some parts. Mechanic informed me that this was not normal and I should contact Toyota for possible recall information. I contacted Toyota, but have not heard back for over one month.”

NHTSA complaint #10819416, filed 2016-01, 200,000 miles

“Recall on frame - dealer sprayed frame with rust prevention. In less than a year it fell off in chucks. Brought it back to dealer and was told there was nothing they could do, even though they had a stack of replacement frames. I don't feel safe in this vehicle and I can not sell it because everyone knows of the problem. Also, my garage floor is stained with rust. Should they have replaced this safety problem?”

NHTSA complaint #10874129, filed 2016-06, 116,963 miles

“My Tacoma is a leasure/work vehicle, garaged and maintained with 65k miles. Within this month I had a main exhuast hanger that was welded to the frame break away and take a large part of the frame with it, then thanks to my wife she noticed an oddity under the bed and it was that 2 of my gas tank straps had broken. I informed the local dealer (kolar) and Toyota, they responded by saying that due to its advanced years, they would not help and are not responsible. …”
