“While pulling my truck into the garage, I applied the brake. I was slowing down and heard the acceleration traction control turn on and my truck lunged forward about one to two feet. The front of my truck hit against some items in my garage and broke my headlight housing on the passenger side and scratched my bumper.”
NHTSA complaint #10563812, filed 2014-02, 31,200 miles“The horn in my 2011 Toyota Tacoma quit working. I went to use it my horn, and it did not work. I've taken my truck to several places to see if it could be fixed. I have been reading where this is a common problem for many Toyota owners. Also, the white paint on my car is starting to flake off. The truck isn't even 10 years old and has been maintained. Yet again, there are thousands of consumers affected by this. Apparently there are two types of white paint that Toyota knows to be an issue on certain year models, but they have not issued a recall. …”
NHTSA complaint #11301343, filed 2020-01, 85,000 miles“There is a high pitched whining noise from the windshield starting at 72 MPH. There must be a cross wind. The noise is at a pitch so high that vehicle operation is difficult, and at best highly distracting to safe operation of the vehicle. Vehicle speed must be reduced to a speed that is below the flow of normal traffic flow.”
NHTSA complaint #10462650, filed 2012-06, 8,000 miles“The underside of my 2011 Toyota Tacoma is experiencing tremendous rust. Dealer said since there was not perforation, nothing to be done. Brackets holding wiring, body panels and now gas tank have rusted and failed. The gas tank strap is a major concern. It is available for inspection. The gas tank is held up now by one unrusted strap and rubber bungee cords I applied. Dealer or independence service center has not seen it. Nearest dealer is a ferry ride away, I live on an island. No inspection by manufacturer etc. No warning lights or messages.”
NHTSA complaint #11666324, filed 2025-06“This VIN number was totaled due to a bent frame after being rear ended on June 10th. I fear my insurance company (USAA) will attempt to commit fraud by not reporting the title as salvage.”
