“Turned left at a green light then truck suddenly accelerated to approximately 70 MPH coming to a school zone with lights flashing and busy road ahead I seen parked bmw. The truck was new to me and had slap shifter so when I moved it for neutral it had to be pushed over and up. I just went over and with little time and busy intersection and children. I picked the bmw thought good crash rating. Slammed the over bmw and kept going til struck a power pole breaking it. …”

NHTSA complaint #11291486, filed 2019-12, 100,000 miles

“The brake light and the traction control lights went on one morn. Later that evening the accelerator did not disengage. I applied my brakes, and could not stop my 2010 Toyota Tundra! When I eventually lost control to avoid a collision with other cars on the road. I crashed my truck into a tree and off road into a ditch a 100 yards from the road.”

NHTSA complaint #10304373, filed 2010-02, 7,500 miles

“I have a 2010 Toyota Tundra, since the purchase note that speeds up when I come to a stop, or just when I'm with the brake pedal position, and to begin to correct single speeds, and he arranged a recall of the accelerator pedal, but even so I still have the problem a few weeks ago, almost hit with my truck, an immigration officer, when inspecting the truck, and my passport ... That scared me a lot.”

NHTSA complaint #10331845, filed 2010-05, 12,100 miles

“My vehicle began to display the vsc (vehicle stability control) light, constantly on, last week when I turned it on. Several days later the brake light and ABS light also became constantly on. …”

NHTSA complaint #10853402, filed 2016-04, 29,000 miles

“When applying the brake at a stop, the brake pedal eases to the floor to the point it is nearly touching the floorboard. The truck has the tendency to lurch or ease forward. This is a serious issue as it has the potential to rear-end another vehicle while stopped or a pedestrian. I only have 3500 miles on my truck and it just started. It appears this is a common problem that is growing, but Toyota refuses to address.”
