“The multi function switch located on the driver's side under the dash is problematic. The failure of the switch results in the rapid clicking noise that can be heard from behind the glove box on the passenger side. This is such a common problem I can not believe there is not a recall. This is the second GM of this model that my family has owned with the same problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10224034, filed 2008-04, 96,663 miles

“No events just after I have been driving a while every day all lights including dash flicker and then when I shut off fuel pump won't pump up. This happens once a day and will not restart till next day.”

NHTSA complaint #10368538, filed 2010-12, 182,000 miles

“1999 Chevrolet s10 Blazer started vehicle, drove down driveway out on to street. Smelled smoke, returned home. Found back of drivers seat on fire, put out with garden hose. Wiring under drivers seat started on fire? We do not have heated or power seats on vehicle and we don't smoke. Damage was burned seat, carpet, rear floor mat, melted wiring. The vehicle does have the hazard/blinker that turns on intermittently for no apparent reason. Don't know if this is related.”

NHTSA complaint #10155118, filed 2006-04, 85,000 miles

“The multifunction switch is not working correctly on my vehicle. Out of the blue I started hearing the blinker indicator noise without actually using my blinkers. The noise and the blinker work together when they should, but now the noise comes on randomly regardless of the actual signal. This happens when the engine is on and when just the accessory switch is engaged, going straight, turning, forward, backward, neutral...at all times. The blinking last anywhere from a single click to a minute straight. My mechanic replace the relay and I have checked all my fuses, the problem has remained. …”

NHTSA complaint #10249687, filed 2008-11, 111,480 miles

“Battery was leaking acid. I heard this is being investigated for 95-97 models but it happened to my 99. Just wanted to make you aware. ****dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis*****724318”
