Example complaints

Air bags: “The air bag light in the instrument panel is constantly on. The passenger air bag status light is constantly reporting no passenger, even with an adult passenger seated. I have paid $100 for diagnostics by the dealership. They say that none of the air bags will deploy in case of a collision. The dealership says this defect is not under GM warranty and estimates the repair at $1000. This car never had any collision. It even does not have any dent. Did you get other complaints? Is this acceptable?”

NHTSA complaint #10341356, filed 2010-07, 34,008 miles

Brakes: “Mounting brackets for both front brake caliper hoses were bent forward, causing hoses to contact insides of front tires when wheels were turned. Right/passenger hose wore through, causing loss of brake fluid and loss of braking. Driver managed to stop vehicle safely. Vehicle was then towed to shop for repairs.”

NHTSA complaint #10573875, filed 2014-03, 93,549 miles

Exterior lighting: “The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Express. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the rear passenger side wheel locked without warning. The vehicle was taken to the nearest service station where the rear brakes were replaced. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the ABS system module needed to be reprogrammed. The vehicle was repaired however, the contact stated that six months later the failure recurred. No warning lights was illuminated. …”

NHTSA complaint #11536554, filed 2023-08, 200,000 miles

Tires: “245/75R16 111T SL WRL AT ADVENTURE OWL Tire failed on the inside side wall while the Van was parked for about 2 hours. Tires were purchased in 2019 but has a built year of 2016. AAA service inspected the Van and could not locate reason for issue. I also examined Ring video footage during the event and did not see anything near the Vehicle at the time of the event”
