“In the last 6 months I have had both front door handles one on the drivers side and one on the passenger side break off. It looks based on my research this is a problem in all HHR vehicles. This is not save not having handles on the inside of the door. I live in michigan and with winter approaching I need to have handles on the inside”
NHTSA complaint #11022177, filed 2017-09, 86,000 miles“Was at dollar store and tried to open the door as normal and the door handle broke off the only way I could get out was to roll down the window and open it from the outside this has to be some kind of defect I've never owned a car where this has happened from the what I have seen on the internet this seems like a very common thing with the HHR design.”
NHTSA complaint #10513572, filed 2013-05, 39,865 miles“Door handles are junk. Driver side broke at 58k. Switched with rear driver. At 74k that one broke. 75k passenger side broke. Handles are brittle. I have never encounter such a problem with any other car. It is an american car and people expect a certain standard so I am really disappointed.”
NHTSA complaint #10533458, filed 2013-08, 58,000 miles“While putting on new seat covers I noticed the bottom seat belt swivel attachment to the car rusted. Checked both front seats and they were both crusty rusted. This can't be good. I have pictures to verify my finding. Awaiting your reply. Thank you.”
NHTSA complaint #10705997, filed 2015-04, 63,000 miles“I was returning home and parked the car to get out and the door handle broke off in my hand. I have to open the window to exit my vehicle. The rear door also sticks at times from the outside causing me and my wife to be unable to get out daughter out of the car.”
