NHTSA complaint #10253667, filed 2009-01, 36,500 miles

“The receiving seat belt connector coupling device at the base of the drivers seat will not secure the seat belt male end. The red button the normally flush with the top of the receiver. You would normally depress the red button down to release the seat belt once locked into the coupling device. Numerous attempts with engaging the belt into the connector is unsuccessful. Tried lubricating the mechanism. No help. It's a self contained device and can not be disassembled for repair.”

NHTSA complaint #11324299, filed 2020-05, 162,000 miles

“During normal use the driver's seat belt buckle will not enter into the latch so the seat belt cannot be fastened. This is not yet repaired. The dealer states this is not a no charge repair of this critical safety item (dealer estimated $180 to $200 to replace). Is this in accordance with NHTSA rules and requirements for seat belts?”
