Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Both driver and passenger seats slide back and forth depending on whether I am accelerating or braking. This movement of the seat affects the pressure that my foot puts on the brakes and accelerator and often causes me to stop faster than intended (which could cause a driver behind me to crash into my truck).”

NHTSA complaint #10366268, filed 2010-11, 98,000 miles

“On two separate occasions driver's seat bracket broke from the vehicle and caused the seat to move while driving 35 MPH. On the first occasion the problem was repaired by the dealer. On the second occasion dealer will repair problem at consumer's expense. The seat bracket failed allowing the seat to pivot forward throwing the consumer into the steering wheel.”

NHTSA complaint #10099955, filed 2004-12, 70,000 miles

“Customized van with aftermarket seats. Seats would slide back and forth on tracts. Would not remain locked in place. Bolts on driver's side tracts were broken. Passenger side was broken prior to driver's.”

NHTSA complaint #892500, filed 2001-07
