“While looking over my truck prior to inspection I discovered three cross members totally rusted thru. The are also the main supports for the gas tank and the shocks. I have been trying to find replacement parts and the more I look the more I hear how common the rusted cross members are. I went to the local dealers parts dept. And when I asked for cross members he told me which ones I needed and pointed them out on an illustrated brake down. …”

NHTSA complaint #10619093, filed 2014-08, 68,000 miles

“Was driving down the road, and stopped at a traffic light. Left from the traffic light ,and the engine just stalled, like it was out of gas. The gas gauge showed that I had a 1\4 tank of gas. So I had it towed home anyway. The next day I went out to start it with no luck. Then I put 2 gallons of gas in the tank, and the truck started right up. Now I know that the gauge is 1\4 of a tank off. Some auto techs have told me that what they call a fuel card that is located on the fuel pump assembly is bad. Just wondering if this is true, because it is a lot cheaper than a fuel pump assembly. …”

I had filled my gas tank just out of san francisco and drove approximately 60 miles just out side of calistoga, california northbound on hwy 29. A winding, uphill mountainous road, single lane traffic except for a few passing lanes and turn-outs. I was driving up an incline. I noticed smoke wisping behind the cab. Almost immediately, the truck died... Red indicators on. …”
