“My 2006 Chevrolet silverado has a defect where the tires rub against the suspension of the vehicle whenever a turn is made. This could cause a tire to blow out causing me to lose control of the vehicle. Chevrolet says they can not repair my truck.”

NHTSA complaint #10197382, filed 2007-07, 35 miles

“I bought a 06 chevy silverado pickup in june 06. The truck has 1800 miles on it and it has a bad vibration at any speed over 30 MPH. I have brought the truck back to the dealer 4 times and each time they rebalance the tires. The last time I was there they let 5 lbs of air out of each tire. They are now telling me that it is the nature of the beast and the tires have to get broke it before the vibration will stop. The truck has general ameritrac p245/70/r17 tires on it. …”

NHTSA complaint #10163567, filed 2006-07, 900 miles

“Driving at low speed in downtown macon, right front tire blew out. Sidewall had 0.5 inch slit and obviously was beginning to separate (I could see what looked like a thread). Tires were just balanced/rotated week of april 10, 2006. Tread looks ok. Could see deterioration around entire tire sidewall above lettering and below tread. Inspected the inner side of the tire wall and noticed same deterioration in same area (rubber was cracked in defined area completely around the tire).”

NHTSA complaint #10155640, filed 2006-04, 12,171 miles

“We were driving down the interstate at 75 MPH and had a rear tire blowout for no apparent reason other than a possible tire defect. We did not hit anything. We quickly slowed and got off the road. The tire side wall blew out. The tires are new and had less than 3000 miles on them.”

NHTSA complaint #10153936, filed 2006-03

“I purchased (4) nitto terra grappler at 265/70/17 tires about 2 months ago. Ever since I've had them I've been having a sliding problem. When I almost come to a complete stop the tires start sliding on dry and dirt free pavement and activates my ABS. My ABS sensors are not dirty. I've never had this problem with tires like I do with these. It can be dangerous and very surprising at times when I drive with this problem occurring. I sent the manufacturer a complaint email. But never got a response. My local dealer says it's a tire problem. Only thing I can do is disable the ABS. …”
