“Tire tread is falling apart. Hunks and pieces are missing from tread all 4 tire. These are general ameritrac tire from the dealership on my 2010 chevy silverado. Dealer will comp them but our fleet is full of these tires doing this. Tires look almost like retreads. Size is p245/70r17. 13,600 miles on them. I have pointed this out on many vehicles wherever I see this tire especially on a silverado.”

After tire removed from wheel found much damage to sidewall inside and one hole in tread. Nothing found in tire that may have penetrated treat. Oem jack bent and would not raise truck.”
NHTSA complaint #10396631, filed 2011-04, 20,878 miles“Vehicle running on highway at 60 MPH and steering began to wobble. Checked front passenger side tires .. Noted a single bulge in the middle of tire treads. 2010 Chevrolet SILVERADO 1500 equipped with goodyear wrangler tires at/s size p265/70r17 tires. Estimated tire to be slightly over a year old with approx 25,000 miles on it. Still plenty of thread on it. Bought truck to goodyear auto service center to have tire inspected. Technician visually inspected tire at parking lot and claimed that fault was likely caused by tire hitting a pothole or curb. …”
NHTSA complaint #10492995, filed 2013-01, 92,300 miles“My truck tires were bought at Costco in 2015 and had 70k Warranty or 6yrs WCF. My added truck mileage since then is 12k miles. I discovered my driver rear passenger tire go flat . I put the spare and took it to Costco for repair. Costco informed me that this is a tire defect as the tire had a side wall perforation. Tire cannot be repaired and a new replacement is required. I looked up Michelin tire recalls and found one issued in 2013 about Michelin X-Radial tires discussing this same defect but it did not include my tire size ( P245/70R17 ) . …”
NHTSA complaint #11709163, filed 2026-01“As I was driving down the road my tire started going flat. After changing the tire and putting the spare on I noticed that where the tire went flat there had been separation from the outside tire and the inside of the tire rubber. I noticed that both my wrangler goodyear p265/70/r17 tires had bubbles in them where the tires are separating in the middle of the tread. The tires DOT number is 4bt6 fder 0610. This is definitely a manufacturing defect and should be looked into. The tires are on a 2010 Chevrolet 1500 pickup.”
