“I was in a car accident. While driving, I don't know what happened but something caused my truck to roll over. Earlier that day I remember that my parking brake would not work. I also had some trouble putting the gear into park. My airbags didn't deploy during this accident, and I was driving with cruise control on if that has any bearing on this. Also, my front tires were always needing air.”

NHTSA complaint #10245168, filed 2008-10, 120,000 miles

“My tires have very little wear because I drive far less now. On I-75 in FL recently, while coming off the ramp and increasing speed, the steering wheel began to wobble back and forth violently. As the road surface was wet, I lost control briefly. Once home, I began investigating the problem. I went back to Pep Boys and they inspected and said the tire was separated and they would give me a credit, but they've discontinued that model tire and I'd have to buy 2 new tires. I could not afford that. So they placed it on the rear and I left mad. A month later the steering wobble returned. …”

He purchased four tires to replace the original tires and two of the tires have failed. The tires are yokohama geolander h/t size p265/75r16. He changed the tires to his spare and drove his vehicle home. The dealer nor the manufacturer were called. The failure mileage was 98,000. Updated 12/10/10. NHTSA complaint #10354521, filed 2010-09, 98,000 miles

“The contact owns a 2001 chevy SILVERADO 1500. While driving 70 to 75 MPH the vehicle began shaking and then the rear passenger side tire blew out causing damage to the back quarter panel. A tow truck driver replaced the tire with a spare tire. The rear quarter panel of the vehicle was also repaired. Two month later, the driver side rear tire blew out causing damage to the fender above the wheel. The tire dealer that the contact purchased the tires from confirmed that there were no existing recalls. The contact has not notified the manufacturer and the vehicle has not been repaired. …”
