NHTSA complaint #10063519, filed 2004-04, 48,160 miles“The contact owns a 1999 Cherverolt Silverado equipped with tire band Cooper tire line Discoverer HTP tire size 235/70R16 DOT not available. The contact noticed that the front driver-side tire had a sidewall compound on it. The contact added air to the tire, but the sidewall compound was still on the tire. The tire was not replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 60,000. The VIN was not available.”

The pieces missing range in size from 1/8 - 1/2 dia. The tires have been rotated per manufacturer specs. Properly inflated at 44 PSI cold. Driven on paved surfaces, and at moderate speeds. I went to the firestone at 5499 n. High st., worthington oh 43085, and the employee, after treating me like a moron, informed me that the recall only was for certain 15 tires. He then insisted that it was normal tire wear. …”
