“I have always received tailgate open messages, but after putting the vehicle in park to check, it has never come open. It finally did come open when I was towing a trailer which caused damage on the tailgate. The dealership stated no recalls, and they couldn't find an issue with it.”

NHTSA complaint #11581193, filed 2024-04

“My 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD does not bear the certification label required by 49 CFR Part 567. I bought it used from a franchised Chevrolet dealer in April 2024 and am the current owner. The date reported is the date I examined the vehicle and confirmed the label was absent. This is not an incident, and I do not know when or how the label came to be missing. I checked the driver-side hinge pillar, door-latch post, door edge, and surrounding areas. …”

NHTSA complaint #11757391, filed 2026-08

“I was almost run over by a Semi-Truck when entering the freeway because my 2022 Chevrolet Truck would not accelerate. I was told at the dealer the loss of power was intentionally caused by the onboard computer. It is programed by the manufacturer to do this anytime certain repairs may be needed. In my case, the life-threatening event I experienced took place because a sensor went out and the computer thought a repair was needed.”

NHTSA complaint #11563849, filed 2024-01

“Rear tailgate opening and closing repeatedly on its own. Background: Arrived home from work yesterday evening, Jun 4, 2026. Parked my truck in the driveway. It was a hot sunny day. Turned the vehicle off, exited the vehicle, and locked the doors. Upon walking around behind my vehicle, the tailgate was opening and closing repeatedly. I attempted to manually close it to see if it would stop, I pushed the lock button on my key fob, and I pressed the tailgate button on the dash which would normally cause it to either open or close depending on its current position. …”

NHTSA complaint #11742326, filed 2026-06

“The way this truck is designed is there is a 2 inch x 2 inch square metal framing piece that runs along the entire length of the truck. The opening to the pipe is NOT blocked off. The opening points up at the gap that exists between the tailgate and the bed of the truck when the tailgate is open. I had my keys on the tailgate and they slipped and fell - anywhere else they would have fell straight to the ground, but they happened to fall into this framing piece that does not have a cap or anything at all. AAA says this is the third one they've seen in my area this month. …”
