“I was almost run over by a Semi-Truck when entering the freeway because my 2022 Chevrolet Truck would not accelerate. I was told at the dealer the loss of power was intentionally caused by the onboard computer. It is programed by the manufacturer to do this anytime certain repairs may be needed. In my case, the life-threatening event I experienced took place because a sensor went out and the computer thought a repair was needed.”

NHTSA complaint #11563849, filed 2024-01

“I started to her a light tapping in engine and also noticed smoke color coming from exhaust when I used the remote start and at other time. Truck has been going through a quart of oil or more at roughly 3400 miles before the 5000 miles before the service is actually due. Spoke to dealership several times and they say that is normal. Called GM directly and filed a complaint.Never had a vehicle that needed oil before service was due. That’s not normal. I feel like I’m getting the run around”

NHTSA complaint #11657980, filed 2025-04

“While driving on the freeway in a construction zone, I smelled a burning oil smell. I considered the possibility it was in relation to road repairs being done (roads being repaved, ie tar resurfacing). I was cut off by another vehicle and depressed my brakes and I saw a poof of smoke over the front passenger area near tire. I noticed all of my gauges were in the normal ranges (temperature, battery voltage, etc.) In less than a minute my truck went into limp mode and advised it had a DEF system issue and it would be limited to a set MPH and a set number of miles. …”

NHTSA complaint #11678537, filed 2025-08

“The vehicle will not allow the truck to be turned off everytime, it states the truck must be in park to be turned off, and the truck is in park. The engine lost power and staleld twice, and loses accelerator power multiple times. The transmission has dis-engaged 3 times. All of this since July 2026. The truck has 54,000 miles on it.”

NHTSA complaint #11761490, filed 2026-09

“The motor blew——It is confirmed by a Chevrolet Dealership and they are now getting a reman engine as a replacement—There was a loud noise then it went dead—-Was able to start it and there was this gawd awful noise coming from the motor—Had it towed to the dealership where we were just told it was a motor failure”
