Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“When driving the vehicle will suddenly shut off. No warning of it about to happen just does. I lose steering and brakes and turns on only after time goes by or by removing negative terminal from battery. It's happened at 35mph and at 60 MPH. I've gone a week with no incident to having it happen dozens of times on a single trip. Very scary situation. Especially in traffic.”

NHTSA complaint #11413701, filed 2021-04, 116,000 miles

“Our car started over heating & smoke started coming out, the car was beeping & the gauge for the heat was sky rocketing to the h. White smoke started coming out of the left side of the engine & then the car was making a knocking sound. At the stoplight waiting to turn our car ended up shutting off & not starting.”

NHTSA complaint #11277018, filed 2019-10, 72,000 miles

“Engine keeps shutting off in traffic, at stop sign. Check engine light keeps coming on and off. Car shut off on me in middle of traffic which put me at risk for being in a bad accident. This is my only means of transportation and I fear for my stay everytime I'm driving my vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #11330825, filed 2020-06, 115,194 miles

“My vehicle stalled for the first time of over 100x on may 19, 2019 just as I was entering a highway. It has since stalled driving in highway traffic fast and at red lights. As a matter of fact it just happened again as I write this complaint.”

NHTSA complaint #11395031, filed 2021-02, 53,841 miles

“Passenger side pushes out cold air, terrible to drive in and uncomfortable. Battery has been replaced 4 times in the last 2 years. Alternator as well. While driving to work, my windshield frosted over from being so cold and I had to veer off the road to avoid getting into an accident.”

NHTSA complaint #11156487, filed 2018-12, 117,000 miles
