“I had just pulled into a parking space and was about to shift from drive to park when my 1999 Concorde took off jumped a curb stop and hit a tree, where the engine continued to accellerate and the wheels dug 5-6 inch ruts in the ground, before reversing jumping back over the curbing and stopping. The whole time my foot was also on the brake which didn't respond.”

“I had just left church, and got into my car to come home. I put on my seat belt, moved the seat forward, checked the mirrors, and with my foot depressing the brake, took off the emergency brake, and looked over my left shoulder. As I did this, I viewed a white car stopped about two cars length behind me, waiting to exit the parking lot. They waived to me to go ahead. At this point my car was completely stopped. …”

“I own a 1999 Chrysler Concorde lxi. I have had numerous problems with this car since I have owned it. Lot of little things. Window motors, cooling fan, transmission overspeed sensor, and the list goes on. Now the air conditioner is going out, having to service it about every 2 months. Why I am writing though is the steering. Seems like it is going bad. I feel this is a safety issue and read many complaints on your web site concerning this. Why hasn't a recall been ordered for this and the speed up issue?”

NHTSA complaint #10025474, filed 2003-07, 80,000 miles

“The car I was driving was a 1999 Chrysler concord that had been in excellent driving up until the time of the incident. Just three days earlier the automobile was serviced at a Chrysler dealership service center for an oil and oil filter change. I inquired at the pick up event if the brakes were okay and it was reported to me that the were fine and that everything with this automobile was fine. On sunday, september 3, 2006, I started this automobile in my garage to go to church. After putting my seat belt on, I usually inch myself out of my garage very, very slowly. …”

NHTSA complaint #10168194, filed 2006-09, 41,973 miles

“I have had my 1999 Chrysler Concorde lxi for about a year and a half. It now has 76,000 miles on it. I was pulling out of the parking lot and first noticed the speedometer wasn't working. At that point I kept driving. As I pulled out onto the road and had to accelerate I noticed my RPM's were a little high. The car seemed to be stuck in low gear. I checked the transmission fluid and the fuse for the transmission controller. Both were fine. I had the car towed. I got online and starting researching the car. It turns out that speed sensors in this car fail quite often. …”
