“Front engine cradle on my 2005 Chrysler Pacifica has rusted to the point that the engine/transmission could fall out while driving. Chrysler says that have no plans to issue a recall for such a condition. I called Chrysler at 1-800-Chrysler and they said it was not covered. The vehicle is in perfect condition and has 109,000 miles on it.”

NHTSA complaint #10553084, filed 2013-11, 110,000 miles

“After getting a routine oil change the dealership told me that my engine cradle (subframe) had a hole in it about the size of a grapefruit. It was rusted through. The engine could fall out. Contacted Chrysler and they will not fix the problem. The car drives terribly. This is extremely dangerous and should be recalled.”

NHTSA complaint #10649829, filed 2014-10, 108,800 miles

“I was doing my oil change, when I noticed that my engine cradle was rusting through. I immediately called, both local Chrysler dealers, was told that although Chrysler is aware of the problem I was not covered. I called Chrysler directly, it was explained to me that although my state is listed in the extended warranty, but because it was originally sold in a state not listed, I was not covered.”

NHTSA complaint #10664530, filed 2014-12, 114,000 miles

“I took our 2005 Pacifica into the local dealership for a oil leak. Finding the motor mount leaking we also discovered the subframe completely rusted through. Upon further examination we find out this is a common issue on these cars and Chrysler refuses to take care of this issue.”

NHTSA complaint #10702889, filed 2015-03, 110,800 miles

“I was driving on the highway going about 55 (MPH) when I went over a pothole. After that my car started making a rattling noise. My mechanic checked the car and said it was the rack and pinion but then he discovered that the whole engine cradle was rusted and corroded and told me it was very dangerous for me to drive the vehicle until I made the proper repaired which is replacing the entire engine cradle.”
