Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“The front passenger pillar loop overmolding has cracked. It has cracked in such a manner that the webslot width has been reduced to a point where it pinches the webbing. The belt can be extracted for wearing, but the retractor spring cannot retractor the webbing. This creates a condition where the passenger can buckle up, and if they lean forward, they can inadvertently create slack in the belt system. This happened over the winter in michigan.”

NHTSA complaint #11098608, filed 2018-05, 45,000 miles

“Hello, I just had my two front seatbelts replaced because of the safety recall of the pretensioners. I also noticed that the 3rd row seatbelts are having the same issue the upper part that holds the seatbelt is cracked and seatbelts won't retract back in once my kids use them I need to manually feed them back in inch by inch until it all goes back in slowly.”

NHTSA complaint #11499271, filed 2022-12

“One seatbelt failed completely, refused to retract. The other one is failing. The first is in the process of getting replaced and the second is inevitably going to fail. Somehow this vehicle is not covered under the extended protection regarding the seatbelt for the 2013-2015 Dodge Durangos and Jeep Cherokees that had this problem. The dealers will not provide assistance and this a safety issue for me and my family.”

NHTSA complaint #11507555, filed 2023-02

“I cannot buckle in my driver side seatbelt. I contacted the dealership I bought my car from and they said 361 parts have been ordered nationwide and no one is receiving the seat belt buckle part.”

NHTSA complaint #11660589, filed 2025-05

“I had a car accident with my child and the front seat belt passenger side locked up and we ended up having to cut her out of the seat belt because it wouldn't unhook”
