“I was driving to get lunch before picking up my son from school. I pulled into a burgerking parking lot as I went to stop at a stop sign the brake pedal went to the floor. When I finally stopped the mini van I noticed that there was a trail of brake fluid on the ground. Upon further inspection the left front brake line had exploded.”

NHTSA complaint #10286766, filed 2009-10, 93,910 miles

“I was braking as I was descending a hill on the highway when the front brakes got so hot that my automobile started to shimmy. I stopped and discovered that my right front brakes were on fire. I had my front brakes pads and rotors replaced about 7,000 miles ago with mopar value line brakes at the Dodge dealership. My vehicle is a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan with 56,380 miles on it.”

NHTSA complaint #10278020, filed 2009-07, 56,380 miles

“Bought Dodge Grand Caravan 2005 in aug. 2006 with 29k miles, now has 50k miles. I've replaced the brakes five times and the rotor once and they need to be replaced again. I have driven in co for 43 yrs and have never had this problem with any other car.”

NHTSA complaint #10268739, filed 2009-05, 21,000 miles

“Last night - for the 4th time now - after filling the tank at the gas station, my car just died. The first 3 times it was when I stopped at the stop sign leaving the gas station parking lot. Last night, it was after I was out on the main road and in heavy traffic. It was stop and go rush hour traffic, so I was thankfully only going approx 15-20 miles an hour. Power steering was lost, brakes were practically non existent. Barely managed to pull off into a parking lot and was able to set the parking brake to finish stopping. Once stopped and in park, was able to start it right back up. …”

NHTSA complaint #10788453, filed 2015-11, 142,000 miles

“I have an sxt version of this minivan. While replacing the disc pads I found that the parking brake cable on the rear driver side is worn almost in two. I checked several of my neighbors vehicles and found only the sxt versions with the rear sway bar seem to be affected. The se version did not have a rear sway bar. The parking brake cable is routed between the fuel tank and the sway bar and it rubs on the sway bar with any movement of the vehicle. This will cause two problems; 1) the parking brake will fail or only be applied to one side. …”
