“Took my 2005 Grand Caravan to the dealership due to a loud noise when turning. Was just informed by dealership that I need a power steering pump, and rack and pinion, bushings and bearings. Also need a new radiator. This is ridiculous for a barely 6 year old vehicle with 70,000 miles on it. I have also had the problem with headlight not coming on when you flip the switch. That is a huge safety issue!”

NHTSA complaint #10392490, filed 2011-03, 73,000 miles

“The oil light went on. I contacted dealer, they advised me I need an oil change. I made an appointment for the next available time which was a week away. I called back next day complaining of a knocking I heard. They finally advised me to get the van to dealer and they will rent a car for me. I checked the oil. It was full. My wife drove it to dealer in the morning. There was no oil in motor. The dealer claims I am responsible since I did not change the oil in 6 months and 7000 miles. …”

NHTSA complaint #10244358, filed 2008-10, 42,333 miles

“Vehicle stops. Motor shuts off, no power available. At highway speeds. Very dangerous loss of control in traffic! Happened at least 4 times from date of purchase may 2005 to august 2006, but only at start up in parking lot. Then it happened at highway speed on the highway with 4 children in van ages 1, 2, 8 and 10 years old! Have no faith in safety of vehicle! Dealer still wants me to drive around with the kids in this condition and I cannot put my children in danger.”

NHTSA complaint #10169668, filed 2006-10, 18,000 miles

“My 2005 Dodge caravan is 9 months old and one day I'm driving and my engine starts making a tapping noiseand the oil light comes on. The next day (monday) I take it to stafford Dodge dealer (robert stocking). They tell me I have less than 1 qt of oil in my car so I need to have my engine block replaced. I informed the dealership that I had my oil changed 1 month ago by jiffy lube, and also had checked my oil 2 weeks prior to the incedent and my oil was at the max line. …”

NHTSA complaint #10120962, filed 2005-05, 15,171 miles

“I was burned on the forearm while reaching under my van for an item that had fallen on the ground. The exhaust pipe runs very close to the side of the vehicle and is not protected by any sort of heat shield.”
