“I have a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan and have had nothing but electrical problems with it. Our automatic sliding door on passenger side has been repaired once already and quit working about 6 months later. Our power door locks now will not work with either the key fob or from inside on the switch. The lights on the dash go out and come on a various times. These are serious issues and dealerships are charging an arm and leg to just look at it and you still aren't guaranteed how long it will remain functional.”
NHTSA complaint #10325839, filed 2010-04, 115,000 miles“My caravan has had numerous electrical problems and is now sitting in my driveway unable to be driven or to sell. Power window and door failure, gauges jumping, radio disconnecting itself, lights turning on and off when no one is in the car, and finally the end result is total power failure (sometimes in the middle of an intersection). Scared for my life and the life of my children I have stopped driving it. I have spent 1600.00 at the Dodge dealership only to finally be told they can no longer help me. I have talked to chrysler directly and they stopped calling me back. …”
NHTSA complaint #10344812, filed 2010-07, 124,000 miles“Multiple electrical failures. Backup lights, door locks, interior lights, right side power window, and sliding side doors. The items do not function on our van. Upon pulling the battery terminal these items will work for a short period of time and then cease to function again. After extensive research on the internet and several hundred dollar in dealer repairs I have discovered that this is due to a software problem with the body control module on the 2005 Dodge grand caravans. The fix is supposed to be a firmware update to the bcm provided by Dodge. …”
NHTSA complaint #10248318, filed 2008-11, 34,500 miles“Have 2005 Grand Caravan. It has 24,000 miles. The air bag light came on. I am taking it to the dealer tomorrow. Also, the driver interior map light doesn't work, eventhough the bulb is ok. (am having that checked tomorrow, too.) when the light first went out, the automatic side doors stopped working. They didn't work for about 2 weeks and when I decided I had time to go to the dealer to get it checked, the doors started working again and have seemed fine since. The light , however, still doesn't work. The rear passenger map lights also come on randomly (usually overnight). …”
NHTSA complaint #10152216, filed 2006-03, 24,400 miles“No specific events prior, just parked car for the evening. Car started but no headlights or interior gauge lights including gear indicator, also no electric door locks. After several restarts all work but check engine light is on. No check engine light now. Cruise control light flickers on and off. This happened a few times when the car was new and the dealer was able to stop it by replacing the computer.”
