NHTSA complaint #10865100, filed 2016-05, 4,000 miles

“We were driving the car when steering suddenly became almost impossible. It was frightening and dangerous. We were finally able to muscle the car to the side of the road, dodging traffic all the way, and stop. We took it to the shop and were informed the rack and pinion steering had gone out. We took the car to the shop and the mechanic told us what had happened. The repair work was very expensive but what was shocking was to find out that this has been an ongoing problem with the Journey which Dodge has elected to ignore. Below is a link to one site which reports this. This is irresponsible. …”

“The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Journey. While operating the vehicle, the ABS and traction control indicators remained illuminated. Also, the cruise control stopped operating. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the front passenger side wheel bearing sensor was faulty and needed to be replaced. The sensor was replaced and the failure was remedied; however, the failure recurred approximately one year later. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 39,000.”
