“My vehicle has gone into what is described as a death wobble on four different occasions, while moving. Twice on the freeway, once coming down-hill on a mountain road and the last on a two lane road. We have verbally complained to the dealer to no avail. These incidents have occurred at different speeds and on one we had an unguarded cliff on one side.”
NHTSA complaint #11157018, filed 2018-12, 125,027 miles“Driving at a speed over 55 MPH and hitting a bump or pot hole my truck starts to shake and my steering wheel shakes back and forth very fast and uncontrollable until I slow down below 35 MPH. I have heard this called the death wobble and I see how it got its name, if a solution isn't found soon one of these times I may not be able to slow down safely and kill some one in an accident or myself.”
NHTSA complaint #10694242, filed 2015-03, 271,500 miles“Front end failure and not just once .I have had it fixed 3 times . There is only 53000 miles on the truck .last time the tie rod broke and the truck ended up half way in a 10ft ditch. The last time a whole new steering linkage and steering box was put on. I have replaced all of the ball joints twice. This is a stock from the dealer 2500 hd truck.”
NHTSA complaint #10423066, filed 2011-09, 50,658 miles“For the last two or three months my 2006 Dodge RAM 2500 has started having the death wobble!! The uncontrollable tire wobble happens at least twice a day now. I have tried just about everything to fix it. I have purchased new bushings and the steering gear stabilizer. I will not buy another Dodge because of this. When talking to Dodge about my problem, it felt like they were just blowing me off.”
NHTSA complaint #10525066, filed 2013-07, 163,560 miles“While driving at 65 MPH I hit a bump in the road at the end of the bridge I was crossing. The front end began shaking violently. I hit the brakes and when I slowed to approx. 40 MPH the shaking stopped. I have been checking on-line and discovered the shaking is commonly call the death wobble . I can see why it is called that because I had little to no control of the vehicle when the death wobble occurred.”
