“I was driving south on I-95 when I heard my left front tire separating . I canceled my cruise control as soon as I realized what was happening , when I hit the cancel button the tire exploded. My truck had a total of 2500 miles on it when this happened . It damaged the bumper ,fender, headlight, door, cab, rim and step bar nothing has been done to repair my truck yet , I also still have the old tire.”
NHTSA complaint #10163740, filed 2006-07, 2,500 miles“A routine visual check of my tires resulted in finding that the outer sidewall rubber is degraded on all four tires. The nature of the degradation is that the sidewall rubber is separating from the core. This is apparent around the entire circumference of the tires. The separations shows as if they were a fine slice through the rubber such that the rubber is easily lifted away from the core. There have been no normal (or otherwise) driving incidents or vandalism where such fine slice type degradation would have resulted. …”
NHTSA complaint #10216788, filed 2008-02, 39,000 miles“Tipm issue when left turn signal is activated no response to wiring harness. Which also would not activate trailer brake light due to no input from left signal. I think this is a problem when other drivers can't see brake lights all due to a bad tipm. Was told the dealer will replace for $700. My opinion with so many 06 Dodge 3500 with same problem this should be recalled. Talked to other owners who have been to dealer and there is a wait for back order due to many others having same problem.”
NHTSA complaint #10312688, filed 2010-02“The contact owns a 2006 Dodge RAM 2500 with b.f goodrich rugged trail t/a tires, line size: lt265/70r/17. The contact stated that the side walls of the front passenger, front driver and rear driver's side tires were cracking, peeling and becoming dry rotten. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The tires were not replaced. The approximate failure mileage was 500. The vehicle failure mileage was 70,000.”
NHTSA complaint #10522701, filed 2013-07, 70,000 miles“Tire size was not correct. Actual was lt265/70r17 Rating 121/118S Just had two tires installed on the rear of the said truck. While pulling 5 ton bumper pull trailer, the amount of sidewall flex on these tires made it dangerous to drive. The amount of reverse track, which I don't know how to explain other than when you turn left the back of the vehicle will actually swing out (in the case of a left steering input, the back of the vehicle will go right, racing drivers also call this being lose). …”
