“Brakes make a grinding sound at low speed. When in reverse, brakes make a humming sound. This was the same issue that caused a recall of previous models, however my vehicle is not covered by the recall. Took the vehicle to the dealer and they said “we know there is a noise but the brakes are working properly.” The noise is not normal.”

NHTSA complaint #11463713, filed 2022-05

“I have had this vehicle approximately 6 months, in that time I have noticed that not only is there a lot of brake dust and the brakes make a loud noise when reversing. The sound is like metal rubbing together and I have only noticed it when backing up. I've taken it to the dealership twice, both times I was told it's the new braking system Ford has and it's normal .”

NHTSA complaint #11482874, filed 2022-09

“Only in reverse, the brakes make a foghorn noise. I’m aware that other 2022 bronco sports were covered under a recall for this exact issue, but mine has not. I’m concerned about the safety and stoppage time for my car. This is not a normal squeal or grinding of worn brake pads.”

NHTSA complaint #11630797, filed 2024-12

“My truck with dead at a turning light, it's still UNKNOWN what happened. I had 2 people try to give it a boost and it would not turn on, the gears were locked, and it had to be pulled on the tow truck. The brake lights signal was flashing, and the engine light was on the dashboard along with the battery light. I could not get it to turn on and there was no sound to the engine. the radio was working and none of the lights went dim.”

NHTSA complaint #11555586, filed 2023-11

“I have taken my 2022 Ford bronco sport into 2 different dealers to check the brakes. They make a loud squealing noise when in reverse. They both dealers said it was dirt in the brakes. They said it was normal. It still it makes the noise in reverse.”
