“Let me start by saying your sales team was great, made the car buying part of this easy....maybe too easy in that I made a quick decision to buy without researching what complaints there were about this vehicle. I am a home health nurse and traded my honda accord in to your dealership as I needed something with more room to store my work supplies while still maintaining decent gas mileage. I have never been more disappointed in a new car. I was so pleased with the service during the purchase. But this car is not what it is claimed to be. …”
NHTSA complaint #11100296, filed 2018-06, 3,000 miles“The steering wheel will click softly and act like it skipped a tooth on a gear. I am told I could lose steering control all together and its possible to just lock up as I'm driving which could lead to an accident or worse. Estimated repairs are from $2300.00 to $ 3000.00 + taxes. From research it appears this has been a problem across multiple models of Ford products from the time this system was initially installed back in 2008.”
NHTSA complaint #11423316, filed 2021-07“2018 Ford Edge Sport AWD, 7600 miles +/-. While driving home my wife experienced an Adaptive Steering fault with the steering wheel misaligned about 20 Deg clockwise (pictures available). Upon arrival I confirmed the fault which cleared by turning the steering wheel back and forth several times. The next morning the fault reappeared. Also the driver's seat belt fails to latch properly, takes several attempts and the driver's door is difficult to open from inside. …”
NHTSA complaint #11419084, filed 2021-05“We had stopped to get a soda and when we came back out and started the vehicle the steering wheel turned 90 degrees so the straight position was now 12 and 6 vs 3 and 9, I tried to shut the vehicle off and restart it and no change in steering wheel position. There was also an adaptive steering error on the dash. Another issue with this was that you could no longer see the speedometer as the steering spoke was covering it, we drove to the closest Ford dealer from where we were and we were told they didn’t have time to look at it on that day. …”
NHTSA complaint #11668475, filed 2025-06“The adaptive steering fault light came on. My steering wheel is slightly turned to the right. I took it into the dealership for service and troubleshooting for this issue. As far as I can tell, there is not a recall for this issue, however I am reading about numerous incidents where this is happening in particular with the Ford Edge. The part is back ordered and the repair quote is $4,090, which is outrageous. In the interim, I was advised not to drive the vehicle because it could completely fail. I am completely disappointed in Ford. …”
