“My back up camera and sensor will not work all the time. Sometimes the picture will show up on my screen, sometimes it will not with the notification to contact the dealership, and other times nothing the touch screen with not show anything and the sensor will not beep. There is no reason for these items to not be working”

NHTSA complaint #11243856, filed 2019-08, 68,983 miles

“When the car is in reverse the back up camera malfunctions. Sometimes the picture is distorted or appears backwards. For instance, the curb may be on the right side of my car, but appears on the left in the camera. More often, the camera does not work at all and no warning sounds occur for objects that may be behind the car. This issue is a safety recall in 2019 and 2020 models. I'm experiencing the same issues, but my year has not been recalled that I know of.”

NHTSA complaint #11382798, filed 2020-12, 81,000 miles

“We have received 2 recalls. - the window pillar sheared off while driving - the rear camera stopped working These recalls are have been active for some time & have yet to be resolved. I replaced one of windshield pillars & am seeking reimbursement The rear camera we had replaced thru our vehicle warranty & am seeking reimbursement for our copay”

NHTSA complaint #11710338, filed 2026-01

“Sudden back up camera failure without a warning light or message. There has not been an accident/incident but it is difficult to see behind the vehicle at certain angles when turning my head to the rear to back up. I have not yet had it checked by a mechanic because upon further research found that it may be too costly for me to have repaired. I had no obvious issues before it stopped working.”

NHTSA complaint #11529503, filed 2023-06

“I see they are recalling backup cameras on Ford explorers mine has not worked properly for years. When backing up the camera shows objects on the left side of car on the right and vice versa. Example if im backing up and a car is coming from the passenger side of car in parking lot it shows it coming from the drivers side. It also stays on while driving and sometimes shows and black screen and distorted images. The date below is just this report date because I can't submit without”
