“I own a 2001 Ford f150 lariet off road pick up truck with a supercab. The rear seats in the truck do not have any headrests. My seven year old daughter constantly hits her head on the rear window because there is no headrest. I am very concerned about what could happen to her if my vehicle was struck from the rear with her in that seat. I can't allow her to sit in the front seat as of yet and can't find any headrest alternatives to correct the problem. I believe that this was a poor design by Ford and I think they know it too since all of the newer models have rear headrests. …”

NHTSA complaint #10152547, filed 2006-03, 57,950 miles

“There is a safety issue with the rear seats not having a head rest, the seats are to low and in case of an accident the passangers on the back are going to hit there heads on the rear window, I have too kids and I don't want for them to get hurt in case of an accident; it could be a severe injury in a rear end collicion. Thanks for your time.”

NHTSA complaint #736639, filed 2000-11

“2001 Ford f150 supercrew purchased in march 2000 does not include headrests on the rear seats (60/40 split bench). Two passengers traveling in my back seat and wearing their seat belts violently struck their heads against the rear window during a sudden stop. Ford has installed rear headrests halfway through this model year. I feel a recall is warranted.”

NHTSA complaint #738070, filed 2000-12

“This vehicle has a rear seat that does not have head rests to protect rear seat passengers from striking their heads on the rear window in a crash. I understand that Ford has redesigned the seat to include head rests. This is a safety issue, and I feel that Ford should consider modifying the seats of first generation 2001 supercrew models.”

NHTSA complaint #737874, filed 2000-12

“My complaint is with the rear seat headrests or lack of. My 2001 does not have headrests. Since then Ford has added as standard equipment rear seat headrests. I am concerned about the safety of the rear seat passengers. If Ford felt that they were neccesary on newer 2001s perhaps it is neccesary on mine also. I would like Ford to tell me why they made this change mid year if not for safety reasons.”
