“The headlamp seals broke. The headlamps have condensation in them during inclement weather or after a car wash.this makes driving at night extremely dangerous as the condensation refracts the light reducing the effectiveness of the headlamps to illuminate the road. I almost went off the road several times from colorado to texas driving at night due to this issue. Ford maintains that condensation in the headlamps is normal and refuses to repair them under warranty. They have offered to assist me with financial assistance to repair the headlamp, which is an admission of fault. …”
NHTSA complaint #11384717, filed 2020-12, 13,000 miles“Vehicle is equipped with automatic headlights that will turn on/off high beams. The high beams should turn on when conditions ahead are acceptable and off when oncoming traffic is present. However, the automatic system frequently gets confused by oncoming headlights, turn signals and street lights, etc., which causes it to flash the high beams briefly at oncoming traffic. On two occasions oncoming drivers thought this high beam flash was a signal to them to go ahead and they turned in front of me, nearly causing and accident. …”
NHTSA complaint #11258922, filed 2019-09, 4,000 miles“Ford issued a day running light (drl) recall on some 2019/2020 f 150 vehicles where some vehicles had drls that would remain daytime bright when the headlights were on. After Ford's fix is applied, all truck lights, except headlights (side marker, tag lights, front lights, trailer lights) are on at all times unless the light switch is manually turned to the off position. In the off position, the drls are off too. Since this is the only way to turn off the unnecessary lighting, it puts the driver into a dangerous situation because the drls are off. …”
NHTSA complaint #11329623, filed 2020-06, 22,000 miles“my drivers side tail light burned out. I replaced with the recommended bulb Sylvania 3057. several months later, the same tail light became very dim, and upon removing the assembly, I noticed the sockets for the bulbs were melting. I was told by the Ford dealer service writer that this was caused by poor quality bulbs. The tail light assembly was damaged requiring a new assembly, new sockets. I am concerned that this could be a fire hazard, and wondering why there was no fuse to protect the wiring. The repair facility discarded the damaged part, but I do have a photo.”
NHTSA complaint #11571658, filed 2024-02“This afternoon while getting ready to leave church, I pulled my truck forward about 10 feet with no issues in order to load some things in the truck bed before taking off. The truck started up just fine, and the starter sounded just as strong as it always does, indicating the battery was of good health. Upon starting the vehicle less than 5 minutes later the engine would not start due to a dead battery - or so that's what the symptoms led me to believe anyway. I heard some clicks, but no starter motor activity, then saw a warning on my radio screen stating turn ignition off or start engine. …”
